Facebook for Journalists training and more in Coeur d’Alene.

Facebook Training for Journalists is one of the key reasons to attend the 2019 Region 10 Society of Professional Journalists meeting in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Saturday, April 6.

The Facebook training will share products and tools — including Live, Groups, Creators app and CrowdTangle — that help journalists leverage Facebook and Instagram for newsgathering, storytelling and connecting with their followers. Digital trainer Kerwin Speight will lead the session starting at 10 a.m.

Other sessions include: Covering Native America, Freedom of Information and Media Ethics.

During the lunch at noon, Mark of Excellence Awards will be given to Regional winners in the national competition, said Region 10 director Donald W. Meyers.

“First place winners will automatically be entered into the final national competition, and those winners will be honored during the Excellence in Journalism Conference this September in San Antonio, Texas,” Meyers said.

Cost for the one-day event is $35 for professional SPJ members and $20 for students. Click here to register.  The event, at the Coeur d’Alene Resort, 115 S. 2nd St., starts at 10 a.m. and ends by 2:30 p.m.
