University of Illinois Chapter Revived

Here’s an 11/19/12 report from Taylor Goldenstein, president of the SPJ chapter at UIUC and news editor of the Daily Illini:

The Illinois chapter of UIUC is definitely starting to stand up on its own two feet. We held our first event of the year a couple weeks ago and brought in ESPN recruiter Carol Mayer. Students really seemed to get a lot out of it, and we plan to continue holding similar events in the future.

We also plan on hosting at least one more event before the semester close that will likely relate to internships as that is on many students’ minds right now.

Lastly, we recently made the decision to assist with judging SPJ’s high school essays, which should be a great opportunity for students who wish to gain more editing experience.
