Fun and Fatigue at the World Knowledge Forum

Thursday, October 15

A little bit of fatigue has set in as my ChungDahm colleagues and I enter the last few hours of coverage of the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul.

For all of you newshounds out there, you know that this is pretty typical. With workdays starting around 7:30 AM and ending around 8 PM, the frantic pace of filing and editing stories on deadlines, and drinking way too much coffee, we were all bound to get tired.

The group’s enthusiasm, though, remains high. As I look around our table, I see some people typing quotations while their partners work on the story’s structure. Others are making copy suggestions in between bites of a late lunch. Still others are staring intently at their laptop computer screens while methodically tapping their keyboards.

By the end of Thursday, we will have reported on 22 sessions dealing with such topics as eco-friendly cars, the future of banking, and wealth management during the global recession. That will bring our three-day session total to more than 50.

Despite the challenging work, I’m hearing that people are having a really good time. To wrap up this blog thread, I plan to write one or two follow-up posts that include some of the participants’ thoughts. I hope to include a few pictures, too.
